Welcome - Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 1,

We have well and truly hit the ground running here at school this week. Although a shorter week we have had many items/events on the agenda.

On Monday, we commemorated ANZAC Day at the Cenotaph in Tallangatta. It was a privilege to march at the parade on the 25th April, during one of Australia’s most important national occasions. ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. Our student representatives James and Tom were extremely respectful, representing our school with pride and dedication.

The following day our Student Representative Council (SRC) were invited to attend Tallangatta Secondary College for their whole school ANZAC day service. Tom, Zac and Jake exhibited great leadership and maturity joining the leaders of the college and the official invited guest at the front of the stage.

It was a pleasure coming together with Tallangatta Secondary College, Tallangatta Primary School and the Early Years Learning Centre as one large community to celebrate such a significant and important day.

Thursday, we hosted our Community Evening, where our beautiful school was opened up to new and existing families within our community to view our facilities and grounds. This event provided an opportunity for people to finally come together after such a long hiatus. To gather as one, socialise and enjoy a free BBQ and furthermore get to know your neighbour and other parents in a casual and informal setting was a tremendous feeling.

Attendees were able to see our new and transformed F/1/2 space and library in its full glory. It was a true delight watching children run freely, playing with each other and adults enjoying conversations and forming relationships through shared interest and the love of their children.

A special thank you to my dedicated and motivated staff. Your time, energy and enthusiasm are always very much appreciated. Thanks to you, our evening was a delightful success! We look forward to hosting future events and opening the gates to more things for our community.

Next week, we will continue the pace with our Learning Conversations on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 -6:00pm and Catholic Education Week (CEW). Over the week students will enjoy a variety of activities for CEW. Our focus for this week is on our school motto – Courage, Compassion and Community. Activities will be connected to one of these pivotal words in some way.

For a brief insight into our week, we are especially excited about two special events: The Early Years Centre visiting on Tuesday (Compassion) and our Mother’s Day Morning Tea (Community).

We hope to see you all at some point next week!

Learning Conversations

Learning Conversations are an optional meeting for your child to celebrate their learning and discuss with you and their teacher moments of success and areas for development as they work towards setting individual goals for further improvement. It is a valuable opportunity for an informal chat with the teacher about your child/ren regarding their academic and social emotional learning thus far.

The PAM link is below and also on our school website. Attached is a quick visual guide as well.
